Old-fashioned Oat Bread

Old-fashioned Oat BreadOne of my absolute favorite meals is homemade soup and bread. I usually make it in abundance all fall and winter, I have not made very much this year though. Maybe because the super cold weather hasn’t hit yet. Well I need more plans for soup and bread! After the Christmas turkey was eaten up I used the bones to make our favorite Turkey Soup and because I had already made buns for Christmas I threw together a nice bread machine recipe to go with it. I love my bread machine, no kneading just ingredients in a big dish. One kitchen appliance I would not want to live without!

Original Recipe The All-New Ultimate Bread Machine Cook Book

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp.honey
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp dry yeast

1. Add al ingredients in order according to bread machine instructions. ( mine is liquids, followed by dry, yeast last).

2. Press start button, wait for amazing bread aromas to fill house.

3. Eat and enjoy!

October favorites -2011

at the zooWell another month has passed. I must say I am super excited about November though. Christmas tree goes up, carols will be playing. Also , it will be my first month in The Secret Recipe Club. (I’ll tell you all about that in a later post.) So for now we will do a quick review of all the yummy October eats, yes there were many!

marble cupcakesFavorite baking- This month the winner in this category was the marble cupcakes that I baked for my niece’s birthday party. It made me think, man I need to use my Martha Stewart Cupcake Cook Book more often! They were yummy, you should try them.

turkey soupFavorite cooking- Well not much beats a nice bowl of turkey soup. As the cold fall weather was drifting in I was sitting in my library with a big comfy bowl. It was exactly how I like to spend those cold October afternoons, in front of a cozy fire with a good book. Almost makes me want to make another Turkey just so I can have the soup again.

fatburgerFavorite dining out- Fatburger. The name really says it all. With a name like fat burger you are just expecting a big juicy old hamburger. yum!
