Brewsters – Calgary

Chicken Burger and Sweet Potato FriesLast night was our annual siblings dinner out. A triple date is you will. We started out the evening at Brewsters, and shared some appetizers. We went for the Lobster Artichoke Dip, it was amazing, plus the honey garlic wings, also amazing, and the calamari which I didn’t try but every one else said it was amazing. Okay, so you get the picture, we liked the appetizers. Now on to the meal portion, I had the Crispy Chicken Ranch Burger with a side of sweet potatoes. It tasted exactly like I thought it would according to the menu description, and let’s be honest with ourselves, that is a rare thing. For dessert we all shared the leprechaun Pie, and the Raspberry Chocolate Cheesecake, again, I didn’t actually try these, however, everybody else seemed to enjoy them immensely. So all in all, we had a great dinner out. Next, was home for Settlers of Catan, and I was the champion! Woo hoo!

Selkirk Grille

Cornish HenLast night was time again for one of our favorite nights of the year. The office Christmas party. Yes, it is true, good times are always had by all. We always get to start the evening with a lovely dinner out. This year it was Selkirk grille, located in Gasoline Alley just outside of Heritage Park. We started off sharing some appetizers, Duck Confit Poutine, Salt and pepper Squid, and a meat a cracker platter (there was a fancier name for this, however sadly, I don’t remember what it was). All were delicious, my personal favorite was of course the poutine but that’s just because I really love poutine! Soups and salads were next, not ordering one myself, all I can say is everyone was very pleased. Then on to the main course, I ordered the Duo of Cornish Hens. The skin was perfectly crispy, the sage bread pudding on the side was delectable! My husband ordered the beef tenderloin (pictured below) the few bites that I tried were also delicious! Next on to dessert, I had the chocolate creme du pot- ( think that is what it was called), basically a creamy, rich chocolate mousse with a side of shortbread cookie. I can honestly say it was the perfect ending to the meal. There was not one morsel eaten that was not enjoyed to the extreme, and with a party of 12, I can say we all left very happy, very full, and ready to go back for more.Beef Tenderloin

The Olive Garden- Calgary

Chicken ScampiLast night was our annual fall birthday celebration. We decided Olive Garden was in order as it has been ages since we have been and let’s just be honest, I needed some of that salad. I love the olive Garden, although I usually completely fill up on the salad and bread sticks and so end up taking the majority of my meal home! Lunch today will be the leftover Chicken Scampi. Last night was great and it was made even more special by the amazing waiter we had. He really did go above and beyond to make our evening lovely. The kids had a wonderful time, and ate to their little hearts content. This is a restaurant that I wish that we ate at more, something we will have to remedy in the future.

The White Spot- Calgary

Philly CheesesteakYesterday we headed out to one of the kids favorite restaurants, The White Spot. It was our first time going since Erik has turned 11 which meant he got to order off of the adult menu. It is funny watching him peruse the menu and then order a huge meal. He pretty much always gets the Burger as it is his favorite food. Yesterday was no exception and he thoroughly enjoyed his BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger. The best part for me is always the coleslaw. The White Spot has the best coleslaw, I think I like it because the sunflower seeds that they add makes it have a delicious crunch. Along with the super yummy coleslaw I had the Philly Cheesesteak as well as some french fries. Everything was pretty good, my only complaint would be I think we were seated right under the air conditioner so by the end of the meal we were all human popsicles! We will be back, many times over I am sure.
