The Fine Diner Bistro – Calgary

Bacon Burger and FriesOur new favourite place to dine is The Fine Diner Bistro. We have discovered a few beautiful little dishes here, and the actual restaurant is a cute little spot right in Inglewood. Love the decor, love the food. Hubs, is one of those rare individuals who finds one thing he likes on a menu and sticks with it! He ordered the duck Benny the first time in for breakfast and proclaimed it so good, he wold never try anything new again. Enter lunch. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, and may have discovered the best burger in town. I was nice. I shared with hubby, and he loved it. Now he has two things that are both amazing. Our youngest ordered the pancakes, (you get an option of plain, blueberry, chocolate chip) I won’t need to tell you she chose chocolate. It is a huge stack of pancakes. Even with me pilfering off her plate (couldn’t help myself, too good!), she ate the leftovers for days! All 5 of us, just love this little gem. Plus,  bonus for you all, it accommodates gluten-free, so if that is necessary for your family you can feel safe eating here. I’m sure you’ll feel right at home!

Red’s Diner – Calgary

Egg Wrap and PotatoesI love living in “the burbs”. We have lovely parks for our kids, there is a lake a few moments away. The one thing we are lacking is a large variety of restaurants. We have fast food in abundance. Chain restaurant, we’ve got those too. One thing seriously lacking “the breakfast” place. So bestie and I ventured inner city. What we were greeted with was a plethora of interesting and exciting new places to eat. Well, new to me at least. With three kids, and hubs, we usually stick closer to home. Red’s was actually our third try, as the first two places on our hit list were both closed on Mondays. I’m kind of glad they were, because eventually we found ourselves at Red’s. The decor alone made me love it. The service was great. Plus, it had the thing that I love the most, a menu where I wanted to try virtually everything. I decided on the Mediterranean wrap, with Red’s potatoes. Both were seasoned to perfection. Bestie has the Blueberry, Basil and Goat Cheese stuffed French Toast. A delicious, breakfast, lunch, or brunch no matter when you choose it. The person next to us ordered the grilled cheese, and I will just tell you I had food envy when I saw it. It looked amazing, and I will certainly be getting the next time. All in all, this is a great little place.

Atrium Cafe & Skylight Lounge – Calgary

IMG_1784Time to celebrate a birthday. My darling of a sister-in-law decided to celebrate with breakfast. A breakfast buffet, located in the Delta Calgary South Hotel. So we all awoke on a Saturday and headed down. Breakfast buffets make my children happy. They quite contentedly made their own plates and ate wheat they wanted. This is the beauty of a buffet. My teenage son may have had over half a plate of bacon, but hey, there are times to feast right? With a make your own omelet station the adults were all happy. Really there was a little bit of everything, eggs, pancakes, bacon, pastries, fruit and yogurt. Plus drinks were included which is a nice perk. The service I must say was excellent. The drinks were refreshed regularly, and the waitresses were very friendly. Even with our two full tables of kids they were very attentive. The price was 18 for adults, 9 for kids 12 and under and under 6 ate free. For a large group the buffet was a lovely idea, a really easy and delightful birthday party. IMG_1788

London Fog Cafe – Calgary

IMG_1751I love little cafes where you canst and have a nice warm beverage, a little snack or a light lunch. These types of restaurants are just my cup of tea. Unfortunately London Fog Cafe is closed on Sundays, or usual dining out day. So when bestie and I decided to hang on a Friday instead of our usual Thursday evening, this seemed like the perfect spot. Also, it’s conveniently located right beside one of my other favourite places to be…a second hand bookstore. Unfortunately we both came out empty-handed in that case, no books that tempted us on this particular day. Lunch however, was a nice little stop. The service was very friendly, the coffee was great and the little egg bagel I had was warm and fresh, made to order and delivered to the table. Soups, sandwiches, salads and baked goods will await you on your next stop to London Fog.
