A long time ago in a land far away….okay I’m just kidding, although it was a long time ago in our house we had some of the hubs work buddies over for a little party. It was a BYOB situation. Neither my husband nor I are beer drinkers however after party clean-up the next day we found we were left with multiple cans of beer. Now I am not a waster so I set out to find something to do with all this beer that had somehow found a home, in our home. As I was looking through one of my favorite and most used cookbooks Better Homes and Gardens I stumbled across this gem of a recipe, we loved it so much we now have to buy beer….tough life.
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1 can beer (1 1/2 cups)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1. Mix together all dry ingredients in medium-sized mixing bowl. Add Cheddar and beer. Stir until combined.
2. Place in a greased loaf pan and bake for 40 minutes at 375 degrees.
3. Eat and Enjoy!
Tips- If you want to add a little spice stir in 1 Tbsp chopped and seeded fresh jalapeno pepper.

Two of the world’s best ingredients in the world, united in one delicious bread! What a great use of the left-over tinnies!
